Connor's First Birthday

My blog is turning into a similar version of the Coal Hill Chronicle (the paper from my mom's hometown of 46). While news of someone's important something is included, it is not necessarily news from the current month.

So, Connor turned one a few weeks ago and it was a JOYOUS occasion. Joyous to see my baby reach a milestone and joyous to see him experience the miracle of cake.

I've been around the block, mom-wise, three times now. When my first baby turned one, I invited 36 people (almost the population of Coal Hill) and sufficiently overwhelmed his poor soul. The second time around, I included around 12 people--enough to stress out about tidying my home, but not enough to sensory overload a 12 monther. The third time, I didn't even invite my baby's daddy. Okay, baby's daddy was technically at a super important shale conference in Pittsburgh (where all significant shaling occurs, obviously), and he celebrated the following weekend at an EVEN SMALLER populated party. But local Grandmas and Grandpas (or Grandfatherly Jer Jer figures) attended the February 23rd official birthday of Connor Hutchins (this important change of his name occurred this last week, but, of course, will not be posted about currently).

And here's an overview of my little charmer's first year:

LOL! The ever decreasing guest list! Just think, when your kids get to be 8, 10, 10, and 12 like ours.....you just send cupcakes to school and call it good! No party necessary. The teacher will sing to them. :) Just kidding! We've already started the birthday talk at our house. Caitlyn wants a rollar skating party with 11 friends and Caleb wants an air soft war party at our house with 5 friends. Take care!
Love,
Pam

So excited to read this post, but even more excited about the NAME CHANGE!!! WOOHOO!!! I still remember when we went to court for Henry -- such a great day. And way to go on a smaller party -- each year I've been trying to wean down the guest list for Henry's birthday parties -- and I think this year will be just family, finally. :)

Well, thanks for dissing my hometown :-) Actually, that is probably the most coverage it has received in a long time.

God gave Connor the most BEAUTIFUL smile ever ... from day one! It touches a heart DEEPLY. I also like that 'Dita' is one of his first words! Go Connor!!

Pam, I think you should try and talk Aunt Linda into hosting the "air soft war" party:> Yikes!
Valerie, yes the name change is incredibly exciting, but I need our photographer's pictures, before I proudly share the amazing moment. Thanks for your excitement--I know you COMPLETELY get it.
Gma Dita, I'm glad to promote Coal Hill because of ALL the Gma & Gpa and cousins and dairy queen, sweet moments it provided. And don't forget to thank Noah for making "Dita" a super easily pronounced (and endearing) moniker.

Yea for this fun post! Yea for your precious Connor turning the big one! He is such a doll - wish I could kiss his sweet cheeks.

And YEA for the big news!!! My heart is full for you. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Oh, and my hometown doesn't even have a Dairy Queen. They did install a McDonald's during the end of my high school career, so there's that at least. Oh, and a second stop light! Go Johnsonville, home of the Mighty Flashes!
